Bringing the Holidays to Downtown Pittsfield

November 29, 2013

The Onota Building storefront on North Street in Pittsfield has been transformed into a magical holiday wonderland. Sue Allegrone decorated the space in hopes of bringing back some of the magic of Christmas as it was years ago when all of North Street’s storefront boasted beautiful window displays, bells ringing, music playing and lights twinkling. The festive holiday décor brings back that ‘Once Upon A Time’ feeling that was enjoyed by all ages many years ago…

A Note from Sue Allegrone:

“I just wanted to give you a little insight before you make your way down to North Street sometime during this holiday season to see the windows. Decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas, has been a tradition in our family for years and the holiday décor in the Onota Building can be enjoyed by all ages. Everything you see are my own decorations from my own home, many of which are more than 30 years old. The window to the left [when looking in from North Street] showcases my ‘Carolers’ characters that were part of the England Brothers’ window display many years ago. They were hand-made and I have enjoyed showing them to people year after year. All of the backgrounds and coverings are made from my own drapery and fabrics. Also, as you will see when you view through the windows, I love to use a lot of seasonal flowers, especially the poinsettias. They are very beautiful to me; the leaves resembling the points of a star and symbolizing great joy, celebration and love. So here's to creating a festive holiday beginning in Downtown Pittsfield!’
